It has been about a month and a half since The Great Flood swept through Marshall and destroyed everything in its wake, including the caboose where WART was based. As of writing this we have relocated temporarily to Reclaim Madison and we're back on the air, but at a cost. The space is inconvenient, we're stuck with subpar equipment for a bit, and we can't be in there on weekends anymore so I have had to move my time slot a couple times. Once we move into a new home, I plan to move my time slot to Mondays from 1 to 2 pm permanently, so I can catch some listeners during the week instead of having to rely on the weekend crowd.
One other big change: since the flood, the 1-year anniversary of this show passed, and there's been a number of shows that I've done that I haven't been able to tape because the taping equipment wasn't set up yet. I'm pretty sure there's 4 shows from the last month that are lost media and the only people who will ever hear them are the ones who heard them live, and I'm fine with that. It was just new stuff coverage anyway, so the format was super loose and even bordered on traditional DJ fare at times. Well, except for last week, during which I did a marathon 2.5 hour Coldplay-themed show, similar to my "Evolution of Taylor Swift" episode a few months ago. And the week before, where I did the "Evolution of Bon Iver". Both were good shows, and I'm sorry that they weren't archived. But I got the recording sitch figured out today for the Post Election Special, and I will be taping all my future shows again. I've also cleared out the show upload backlog that I had before the flood.
Which brings me to the future of this show...
It's been a year since The Scumbag Files started, and with The Great Flood, we've kinda been given a forced reset. Therefore, all episodes of the show up until this point are going to be dubbed "Season 1". Season 2 will start next week, with Episode 1 airing on November 18th. Before the flood, I had plans to start a "Live on The Scumbag Files" series where I would bring in local bands for an hour long live performance/interview segment. I still intend on following through on that, and I think Season 2 would be a great time to bring it in. I still need to figure out some logistics and acquire some more equipment, but I will make it happen at some point. We've had a massive influx in listenership since the Great Flood, and I want to keep people around. That is, the kind of people I want to keep around (if right wingers out there don't like hearing me push leftist talking points on air, they can suck my dick). So I want the new season of the show to be more interesting, more slickly produced, and more entertaining than ever before.
I hope you'll join me.
