Episode #2: Ed Sheeran "Divide" Album Reaction and Review - Part 1

This show actually got taped! Hell yeah. So you can listen to it here. The mixing is a bit off, though. My guitar was coming through really quiet, as it turns out. I will be sure to rectify that in later shows.

TAPED SHOW LINK

Here's the recap:

- Intro and shoutouts to Downtown Brother Brown and Stick Man Mike

- Why did scumbag bands choose to rip Eddie Vedder off, of all vocalists they could have chosen

- Ed Sheeran Listening Session: "Divide" album

  • Listening: "Eraser"
  • Discussion: Ed's bad rapping, and the meaning of the lyrics. "A razor" vs. "eraser"
  • Listening: "Castle On The Hill"
  • Discussion: "God On Guitar" guitar tone and Ed's singing voice
  • Listening: "Dive"
  • Discussion: it's a fine song
  • Listening: "Shape of You"
  • Discussion: decent chord progression, 6/10 song
  • Listening: "Perfect"
  • Discussion: the romantic cliches of the song. 6/8 time, strings, "angel" comparisons, etc.
- Summary: album feels impersonal, generic pop music, maybe we'll pick it back up next week.

- Outro
